Cailin Hope - 1 Year Old!

Cailin Hope,

We are so happy to celebrate your first year with you!  Though, it's unbelievable that the full year has already elapsed.

-You are such a happy little girl.  People repeatedly ask us "Is she always that happy?" and it's wonderful to be able to honestly reply in the affirmative. 

-You are a very good eater.  You eat ethnic foods like Thai curry and Indian tikka masala.  But you won't eat normal foods like pizza, apples, or bread.  Yogurt and blueberries are your favorites.  You are now enjoying whole milk a few times a day.  Today you even drank it from a cup as opposed to a bottle.  I think we can all agree it's wonderful to be over the dairy allergy, huh. 

-You have a mouth full of teeth which allows you to enjoy all the yummy foods with our family.  Lately you've taken to biting...which is a real treat.  Only not.  I don't doubt that your sister "started it" most of the time, but we need to work on your method of retaliation.

-In true, second child form, you prefer social activities to book learning.  When we hold you in our laps and try to read a book, you flip and twist as though it's painful to look at the pictures on the page.  We will read to you though.  Like it or not. 

-You are a very verbal and sign-al babe.  You say Mama, Dada, More (Mah), Amen, Moo (for cows and all animals), Dog-dog, and some un-spell-able two syllable "word" that means Charlotte.  You sign More, All Done, Water, Milk, and occiassionally Please and Thank You.  You fold your hands for prayers and clap when you're proud of yourself. 

-You have moved past your Mama-Only phase.  Dada attributes this to our recent trip to Boston where he got to spend lots of extra quality time with you.  In the evenings you sit by the front door shouting "DADA!" anxiously awaiting his return from work. 

-You sleep like a baby.  You've slept through the night since you were a little baby and I know this contributes to your happy demeanor.  Your morning nap is a quick catnap and then you sleep for 2-3 hours after lunch.  You absolutely love your purple blankee.  Big Sister got you a Teddy Bear for your first birthday (since she got one for hers <3 ) which you like to snuggle with now too. 

You are our favorite baby sister and we are so excited to watch you continue to grow up.  Every day with you is a treat and I'm so happy I get to be home to enjoy you.  Happy First Birthday Cailin Hope!!
