Happy Father's Day!

We love you Dada!
-You run crazily with the stroller to "catch squirrels" while out for a walk or jog
-You are a reliable accomplice when Charlotte seeks to make trouble
-You make pancakes even though we can't eat eggs or milk (and they're not totally gross!)
-You work hard so that we can enjoy ourselves
-You made a drastic job change in order to increase time spent as a family
-You are always up for an adventure
-You have so much confidence in our girls
-You've given Charlotte the vocabulary of someone 5x her age
-You've given Cailin cheerios, hummus, and other yummy foods even though it wasn't time to introduce them
-You show our girls what to look for in a man.  You are an amazing role model.  You are the best dad we could ask for.  You've made major changes in the last year in order to serve us better and we love you for it.  We love every extra minute we get to spend with you and appreciate you for all you do for us.  Thank you for working so hard.  Thank you for taking care of us.  Thank you for fathering Charlotte and Cailin so wonderfully.

Cailin - 6 months

Cailin Hope,

Oh baby, how we love you- your mama, your dada, and your big sister.  And thankfully you seem to still be fond of us.  You are half a year old now and just as sweet as can be.

-You love your big sister.  Even when she seems to be squishing you or hitting you, you smile with glee when she is in your face.

-You are a roly-poly.  You roll all over to get where you want to be.  You have started scootching, but so far, that only takes you backwards.

-You love any and all food.  We started you on solids around 5 months and after a couple of weeks, we had to quit because you were having tummy aches.  You were not happy about this (the tummy aches or the quitting).  We started over today (back to boring rice cereal) and are hopeful that things will go more smoothly this time. You are still allergic to dairy.  Your sister grew out of this around one year, so we hope you will too.

-You have the biggest smile and it takes very little to bring it out.  People are impressed and entertained with how easy it is to get you to grin.  It may be because your big sister hogs all of the attention at home and you're relieved to finally get someone to notice you...

-You are a mama's-girl.  When I'm in the room, you insist upon being with me.  It's very sweet until your sister becomes needy or it's time to make dinner.  You spend lots of evenings in the ergo/sling so that we all stay sane...I mean happy.  When you can't see me, you love to play with your sister's toys.  The barn that plays sounds is a current favorite.

-You are a snuggler.  When we sing "Twinkle Twinkle" at night, you settle right in on my shoulder and I could melt.  When you have trouble putting yourself to sleep, I go in and pick you up and immediately you nuzzle your nose into my shoulder and fall asleep.  It's unfortunate you won't transfer and as soon as I put you down, you get upset again. Thankfully, you are generally very good about putting yourself to sleep.

Cailin Hope we love you so very much.  You are the best baby sister we could've asked for!

Taking her hat off.  Another favorite pastime.

She sucks her bottom lip when she's tired.
Even when her lips aren't smiling, her eyes are.
