15 Months Old Today!

Dear Charlotte,

We have now been together for 15 months and you still make me smile everyday. Here are some things that I've noticed lately.

-You took your first step last week (6/13/11) and your first two consecutive steps this week (6/20/11). You are not yet fully walking but it seems you will be soon. Maybe.
-Update: As of 5pm, you are now taking many steps on your own!

-You are very cautious. You take your time getting warmed up to new people and places. You like to watch from afar for a few minutes before jumping into something (or someone else's arms).

-You are a chatty kid. You can say the following words (and probably more I've forgotten): Please, Thank you, You're welcome, Bless you, Mama, Dada, Elmo, Nate (a friend), Eat, Water, No, Ball, Bubble, Go, Meow, Buk buk (for chicken), Dog, Papi, Vovo, Hello, Byebye, Love you, Where are you? (my current favorite), Kids, Hi, Bye, Wow!, Night night, Uh oh, diaper, amen, stickers, keys

-You are able to identify many body parts. You know head, hair, ears, eyes, nose, tongue, hands, feet, and toes

-You love to climb on everything. You are very proud of yourself once you get up high, but then sometimes you still fall. Having so little hair means everyone sees your bumps and bruises.

-Your hair has started to grow. I suspect you'll be getting your first haircut around the time you start kindergarten.

-You love to be around other kids. You try to say your friends' names and you squeal when friends come over to play.

-You spend most of your time in the house running up and down the long hallway with your push toys. When you enter the living room, you say "Hi Mama" then immediately turn around and say "Bye" and head back down the hall. Within the past week, you've started to carry a "purse" on your shoulder while doing this.

-You are a very well traveled kid. You've been around the midwest and all over the east coast. This week you are heading to Europe to explore Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. You are going to embrace jet lag like a champ. Please.

-You are officially not allergic to dairy! You are allergic to cats, mice, and ragweed though. Good thing we didn't take you back to our old NYC apartment.

-You still love to eat everything. You like Chinese food, Thai food, Italian, Indian and anything with cheese. You prefer pasta dishes to meat. Despite how much you eat, you're now in the 25th percentile for weight and 90th for height. Time for some more milk shakes.

-You are not a huge fan of milk now that it comes from a cup instead of a bottle. You drink a cup, maybe 2 a day.

-You abruptly switched from 2 naps to 1 nap at 14 months. You now sleep about 2 hours a day. Feel free to extend that for another 30 min to an hour. I'll give you cookies when you wake up if you do this.

-You continue to be Elmo obsessed. You request (demand) him when you see the tv, the cell phone, the computer or the Ipad.

-You understand "Dada's at work" and though you may not like it, you know it means you can find him in the phone or in the computer.

You are the best. I hope all future kids have the same demeanor you do. You've set the bar very high. Thank you for making me laugh every single day. With Daddy's work schedule, most days it's just the two of us. And I can't think of anyone I'd rather spend my days with!

I love you Ms Grace!
